This role focuses on evaluation, treatment, and management of diverse caseloads with an emphasis on orthopaedic injuries sports-related conditions, preventing injury, and promoting fitness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs and documents a comprehensive initial exam including a review of medical history, referrals from doctors or surgeons to identify problems, and determine a diagnosis before intervention.
- Delivers high-quality direct patient care using manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and other appropriate interventions to develop an individualized treatment plan to maintain, improve or restore physical function, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Educates patients on injury prevention, post-op recovery, performance enhancement and home exercise programs.
- Treats patients across all activity levels-from sedentary individuals to recreational and competitive athletes.
- Maintains thorough and timely EMR documentation to support treatment, treatment goals and progress while adapting treatment plans in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and State Laws.
- Collaborates with referring physicians, athletic trainers, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Discharge patients appropriately and follow up with patients as needed.
- Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants to achieve patients’ functional goals.
- Contributes to clinic operations including patient flow, scheduling input, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
- Participates in team meetings and other clinical and staff meetings.
- Develop and enhance clinical expertise. Maintain awareness of current research, literature, and professional consensus regarding treatment strategies.
- Demonstrate adherence to state practice acts and codes of ethical professional conduct in all spheres of clinical practice.
- Perform related work and other duties as required and/or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong understanding of outpatient orthopaedic, sports medicine, and physical medicine & rehabilitation protocols.
- Ability to adapt treatments to a wide range of functional levels and ages.
- Passion for delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and education skills.
- Growth mindset and interest in continuing education and clinical mentorship.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Current state licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist required.
- Possession of a degree, which includes an internship from a baccalaureate/ university program in physical therapy approved by the American Physical Therapy Association required.
- CPR/BLS certification required and willing to train.
