The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the HR team, responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department within a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment. This role manages core HR functions including HRIS administration, employee engagement, talent acquisition, payroll support, compliance, benefits administration, and policy enforcement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
HRIS & Data Management
- Serves as the primary administrator of the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy, system optimization, and employee lifecycle management.
- Conducts audits of employee records and ensures workflows are properly maintained.
- Generates and interprets HR reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinates system integrations, upgrades, and training for users.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Coordinates recruitment process including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, background checks, and onboarding.
- Partners with hiring managers to understand position needs and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Conducts general orientation for all new employees and supports supervisor-specific onboarding processes.
- Acts as liaison with area education programs, and coordinates intern and extern opportunities within company.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Coordinates employee recognition programs, staff engagement and surveys.
- Actively participates in culture-building initiatives to promote an intentional, inclusive and patient-centered workplace.
- Supports internal communication and HR-driven initiatives to enhance employee morale and connection.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Reviews biweekly payroll preview reports for accuracy, including PTO, deductions, and compensation/status changes.
- Serves as a backup for payroll processing and supports benefits enrollment and administration.
- Administers benefits acting as expert on all plans offered to employees.
- Manages leave administration including FMLA, and short-term and long-term disability.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provides guidance on HR policies and procedures to employees and supervisors.
- Coordinates employee evaluations, and provides guidance on disciplinary processes and conflict resolution, ensuring compliance and documentation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, healthcare regulations, and internal policies.
Training & Development
- Coordinates and tracks staff development and mandatory training programs.
- Maintains a yearly training calendar and ensures completion of compliance and role-specific education.
Administrative Support & Reporting
- Prepares internal reports related to staffing, FTE, and HR metrics as requested.
- Maintains employee records and confidential documentation in alignment with HR standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms, Paylocity experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Professionalism, discretion, and strong problem-solving capabilities
- Knowledge of employment and healthcare laws, and HR best practices
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to navigate all departments across multiple facilities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of professional experience in Human Resources, healthcare or medical office setting strongly preferred.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus.
